Most patients benefit from occasional x-rays as part of a thorough exam, with the timing based on your age, history, and risk of dental problems. They are especially useful if you have pain, a new symptom, or are planning treatment. Dr. Perimenis only recommends them when they add helpful information.
You sit comfortably while a small sensor captures a few images, which takes only seconds and causes no discomfort. The images appear on screen right away, so you and Dr. Perimenis can look at them together during your visit.
The images themselves take only a few minutes to capture and are ready to view almost immediately. Reviewing them together adds just a little more time to your appointment.
Digital x-rays use a very low dose of radiation, much lower than older film versions. We only take them when they are needed, and we are happy to explain what each image shows.
There is nothing to recover from, and no aftercare is needed. You can return to your normal day right away.
